Bigger & Better Specs

While the specs are a step-up from its Nokia X baby brother, as a first foray of into the “phablet” world of the Nokia X line, the guys from Nokia/ Microsoft Mobile could’ve added a few more punch to this otherwise wonderful phone.

Running on a proprietary custom version of the Android OS, the Nokia XL runs a lot smoother than the Nokia X with the additional RAM included. And with the bigger screen real-estate you can enjoy games and apps bought from the curated Android market of Nokia. The screen size also complements the addition of a front-facing camera for those times when you want to do any video calling. 🙂

The OS interface runs similarly with Nokia X using a Lumia-inspired tile design factor and the inclusion of the Nokia Fastlane (which is also being similarly integrated into the newer Lumia devices). With the same mentality behind the Windows Phone OS, the Fastlane creates a unique experience that’s solely dependent on how you use your phone as it curates your phone usage history.

…But not better pricing.

The only concern we have with the Nokia XL is the price scheme. At Php 8,990.00, there are a lot of quad-core options for people to choose from including Nokia (or Microsoft Mobile)’s very own Lumia 630 – a 4.5” Dual-Sim Windows Phone OS device running at Quad-core speed and conveniently priced at Php 7,990.00.

This poses a challenge for the XL market. Unless the prices could go down to say Php 6,000.00, we’re seeing only the hardcore Nokia Android users will be jumping on this 5-incher on the get-go which is quite sad because out of all the Nokia X device this is the one that people were really excited about.
