Nubia Red Magic 6S Pro Official with Snapdragon 888+, Improved Cooling

Nubia revealed a modest update to its Red Magic 6 gaming phone in China with the Red Magic 6S Pro. This time, there will be no vanilla 6S, so all of the focus is on the 6S Pro instead.

Nubia Red Magic 6S Pro Specs:

  • Snapdragon 888+ processor
  • 12GB/16GB/18GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • 128GB/256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, 165hz refresh rate, 360hz multi-touch sampling, 720hz multi-finger touch sampling, 10-bit color
  • 64-megapixel f/1.9 main camera with PDAF, 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor, 8-megapixel f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle camera
  • 8-megapixel selfie camera

  • WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers
  • Touch-sensitive shoulder triggers, 400hz touch sampling
  • Active air cooling
  • 4500mAh battery
  • 120w fast charging
  • Android 11, Red Magic OS 4

While it looks practically identical to the Red Magic 6 Pro save for branding tweaks, the Red Magic 6S Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 888+ processor that should deliver better overall performance over the non-plus version of the Snapdragon 888. To keep up with the added performance, the Red Magic 6S Pro has an ICE 7.0 cooling system that adds Phase Change Materials (PCM) for improved heat dissipation. Like the non-S model, the Red Magic 6S Pro’s active cooling spins at up to 20000RPM.

The AMOLED display gets a slight tweak on the Red Magic 6S Pro with an updated 720hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. For reference, the Red Magic 6 Pro has a 500hz single finger touch sampling rate and 360hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. The in-display fingerprint scanner is more secure, as it can detect heart rate, making it harder to fool the sensor.

As for gaming-focused triggers, the Red Magic 6S Pro adds an additional trigger on the back of the phone.

Nubia Red Magic 6S Pro Price

The Red Magic 6S Pro will be available globally on September 27 in three configurations. The 12GB/128 GB and 16GB/256 GB variants in Cyborg Black will be priced at $599(~Php 30k) and $699(~Php 35k) respectively, while the 16GB/256GB variant in Ghost (Transparent) is priced at $729(~Php 36.5k).
