One of the Redmi K60 Phones Might Be a POCO Device Globally

Every time a new Redmi phone is announced “exclusively” for the Chinese market, there’s a good chance that they do become available globally as a POCO or a Xiaomi device. That was the case with the Xiaomi 12T Pro (which was a Redmi K50 Ultra with a 200-megapixel camera) and the POCO X4 GT (AKA Redmi Note 11T). We do bet that one of the three phones under the newly-announced Redmi K60 series will eventually become available globally–and the Redmi K60 is said to be the POCO F5 based on rumors.

Comprising of the Pro, vanilla, and E variants, all three models come with a 6.7-inch 120hz AMOLED display that has a 2K resolution (the E variant uses a 10-bit panel, the vanilla and Pro models use a 12-bit one) and a punch-hole for the 16-megapixel selfie shooter (20-megapixel for the E model).

The vanilla and Pro models come with 30w wireless charging and Snapdragon processors–8 Gen 2 for the Pro, 8+ Gen 1 for the vanilla model. The E model foregoes wireless charging but has a 5500mAh battery that supports 67w wired charging (the same applies to the vanilla model). The Pro model has a smaller 5000mAh battery, but makes up for it with 120w wired charging.

All three models do have OIS on the main camera and a rather basic ultra-wide-angle and macro camera. The Pro model gets the latest 50-megapixel IMX 800 sensor, while the vanilla and E models settle for a 64-megapixel and 48-megapixel camera that have smaller sensors.

Since the Pro and E models are least likely to be made available outside of China, let’s focus on the pricing of the vanilla model–which will MOST likely be the POCO F5 globally. Based on the pricing in China, the Redmi K60 starts at CNY 2499(~Php 20.1k) for the base 8GB/128GB model and goes up to CNY 3599(~Php 28.9k) for the 16GB/512GB version.

Should we follow how POCO would price its phones, we expect that at least a 12GB/256GB variant will be made available globally at roughly Php 30k–that’s a relatively competitive price for a flagship killer that has a previous-generation Snapdragon 8-series processor.
