OnePlus Confirms Android O as the Last Major Update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T

Any OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users in the house?

Oliver Z., Head of Product at OnePlus, earlier announced that Android O – Android 8.0 – will be the final version of Google’s mobile operating system that will be pushed for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

The OnePlus executive posted the news on the company’s official forums, along with details on future updates slated for the handsets. He reassured the forum users that the two previous-gen flagships will still be getting security patches and individual app updates “for the foreseeable future.” The OnePlus 5 will be getting the Android O update after the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

On the subject of the upcoming updates for the OP 3/3T, Oliver noted that the August security patches will be rolling out soon, with OxygenOS 4.5 coming “in the next 1-2 months.”

Despite getting the same firmware as the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 3 and 3T will still be ineligible to get certain features of the current-gen handset such as Reading Mode and DCI-P3 screen calibration due to hardware differences.
