Both models will skip the Android 8.1 update
After receiving Android 8.0, OnePlus announced that it will be skipping the Android 8.1 update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. Instead, they will be updating both phones to Android P, as announced in their forums.
In the said post, the decision is made to “offer more exciting features and improvements for our OnePlus 3 and 3T users”. This will be the third major Android update for both phones, as they shipped with Android Marshmallow back in 2016.
No word yet on when OnePlus will be seeding the update, but this is nonetheless a welcome development for both OnePlus 3 and 3T users.
