OnePlus Nord 2 5G scores 116 in DxOMark, at Par with Galaxy S21

DxOMark has recently put the OnePlus Nord 2 5G to its usual battery of tests and gave it an overall score of 116. While it is not outstandingly high–the Huawei P50 Pro is on the top of the charts with a total score of 144, the Nord 2 5G is quite a performer, as it is at par with the Exynos version of the Galaxy S21 and S21+.

If that is not noteworthy enough, the Nord 2 5G scored a point higher than the OnePlus 9, which comes with Hasselblad-branded cameras and is more expensive. Aside from that, DxOMark describes the OnePlus Nord 2 5G as a leader for the Advanced (aka mid-range) segment ($200-399).

Breaking down the scores, the Nord 2 shines for its wide dynamic range and vivid colors in indoor shooting conditions, along with consistent white balance and color rendering in videos. Considering that the Nord 2 is marketed as a mid-range device, DxOMark praises it for having an excellent photo exposure performance that can rival more expensive phones. In fact, the Nord 2’s 125 score for photo is the highest for DxOMark’s Advanced Segment.

Going to its video performance, the Nord 2’s score of 105 puts it at par with the Apple iPhone SE (2020) and marks an improvement over its predecessor despite lacking a dedicated telephoto camera.

To recap, the Nord 2 comes with a 50-megapixel f/1.8 IMX766 main camera with PDAF and OIS, a 2-megapixel f/2.4 mono camera, and an 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera. Powering it is a custom Dimensity 1200-AI processor with improved AI capabilities for Photo and Video, where it can recognize up to 22 scenes and apply the best settings for them and live HDR while shooting video.
