OPPO Debuts First Foldable Phone with the Find N

While it may have taken a while for OPPO to launch their own foldable device, the brand formally unveils its first model at INNO Day 2021 with the Find N. While it has a form factor that’s similar to the Galaxy Z Fold3, the Find N is smaller in size with its 5.45-inch outer display and 7.1-inch foldable inner display.

OPPO Find N Specs:

  • Snapdragon 888 processor
  • 8GB/12GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • 256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • 7.1-inch LTPO AMOLED foldable inner display, 120hz refresh rate, 1792×1920 resolution
  • 5.45-inch AMOLED outer display, 1972×988 resolution
  • 50-megapixel f/1.8 Sony IMX766 main camera with Omni-Directional PDAF and OIS, 16-megapixel f/2.2 Sony IMX481 ultra-wide-angle camera, 13-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera
  • 32-megapixel f/2.4 IMX 615 selfie camera (inner display)
  • 32-megapixel f/2.4 IMX 615 selfie camera (outer display)
  • 3G, 4G, 5G
  • WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • Stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos
  • 4500mAh battery
  • 33w wired charging, 15w wireless charging, 10w reverse charging
  • Android 11, ColorOS 12

Unlike with the Galaxy Z Fold3, only the inner folding display has a 120hz refresh rate; the outer display uses a conventional 60hz refresh rate.  Key to its folding design is OPPO’s Flexion hinge, which is comprised of 136 components. It outshines Samsung’s current foldable mechanism with its waterdrop hinge design, eliminating gaps and minimizing the display crease by as much as 80% at the expense of not having an IP rating.

The foldable inner display makes use of OPPO’s own Serene Display tech, with compromises of 12 layers that include ultra-thin glass (UTG), along with 120hz adaptive refresh rate. The foldable inner display allows you to split the screen and use two apps side-by-side for better productivity.

The Find N has good photography chops with its triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel IMX766 main camera, 16-megapixel IMX481 ultra-wide-angle camera, and 13-megapixel telephoto camera. Both the inner and outer display have their own 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Powering the Find N is a Snapdragon 888 processor that is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage, along with a 4500mAh battery that supports 33w wired charging and 15w wireless charging. It comes with Android 11-based ColorOS 12 out of the box.

The Find N is priced at CNY 7699(~Php 60.8k) for the 8GB/256GB model and CNY 8999(~Php 71.1k) for the 12GB/512GB model. It will be available for pre-order in China starting today, with official sales happening on December 23. There’s no word when OPPO will make it available globally.
