While it is no secret that Qualcomm reveals its latest Snapdragon 8-series processors towards the end of the year, one possible date(s) for the reveal is during the 2021 Snapdragon Tech Summit, which will be happening from November 30 to December 2.
The splash page currently says “More to Come, Soon!”, but if we follow Qualcomm’s pattern for the past few years, they are expected to reveal more details about the Snapdragon 898.
Based on current rumors, the Snapdragon 898 will use Samsung’s 4nm process and will be an octa-core processor with a prime Cortex-X2 core running at 3.0Ghz, three Cortex-A710 cores running at 2.5Ghz, and four Cortex-A510 cores running at 1.79Ghz. It will come with an Adreno 730 GPU.
Compared to the Snapdragon 888, the Snapdragon 898 claims to have up to 20% better performance, along with a Snapdragon X65 5G modem that can offer maximum downlink speeds of 10Gbps.
Like with the Snapdragon 888, Xiaomi is expected to be the first brand to use the Snapdragon 898 with the upcoming Xiaomi 12, which should be unveiled before the end of 2021. Other brands that are expected to use the Snapdragon 898 include Huawei, Lenovo, Motorola, vivo, OPPO, and Samsung.
Qualcomm should reveal more about the Snapdragon 898 at the 2021 Tech Summit, so stay tuned for that.
