Realme 2 Hands On, Quick Review: Definite Déjà Vu

Realme 2 Hands On, Quick Review: Definite Déjà Vu

We check out the Realme 2!

While Realme launched a trio of smartphones today in Southeast Asia, by far the phone that felt the most familiar to us (despite only handling it today) was the Realme 2. It has a lot in common with the offering of its sister company’s more expensive OPPO F7, so you really can’t fault us for having this major sense of déjà vu.

That doesn’t take away from the fact that the Realme 2 offers a lot of value to prospective buyers, and is pretty easy on the eyes as well.

It looks a lot like the F7.

It kinda does, especially when you take a look at the gorgeous diamond cut design at the rear. Whether you choose the blue, black, or red color, the Realme 2’s design comprises several triangle cut patterns that appear differently depending on the lighting angle. The back is made of 12 layers of nanoscale sheet laminates, which Realme claims make the Realme 2 resistant to scratches.

At the back, you have your Realme logo at the bottom, along with a fingerprint scanner and a dual rear camera setup. Like the Realme C1, you have a headphone jack, MicroUSB port, and speaker at the bottom, volume controls on the right, and power button and SIM tray on the left.

The rear cameras are composed of a 13-megapixel f/2.2 main shooter and 2-megapixel f/2.4 secondary camera, while the front camera is an 8-megapixel f/2.2 shooter.

Powering the Realme 2 is a Snapdragon 450 processor and 4230mAh battery. You also get Android 8.1 out of the box, along with ColorOS 5.2. Unlike the Realme C1, the Realme 2 is offered in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB variants.

How much will it cost?

The Realme 2 will cost RP 1,999,000(~Php 7.2k) for the 3GB/32GB model and RP 2,399,000(~Php 8.6k) for the 4GB/64GB model. Pricing may change when it reaches our shores, but with their Indonesian price, the Realme 2 is competitively priced for what it has to offer.
