The realme GT 7 Could be the Killer of Flagship Killers

First Impressions: realme has got something really special with this year’s iteration of the GT. The three main features ofr the realme GT 7 are World Firsts and make for a capable arsenal that could possibly take out the competition.

realme GT 7 First Impressions: Design

When you first get the GT 7 out of the box, it might seem a little underwhelming in terms of design. It looks good but there’s nothing really that stands out until you find out what material it incorporates–Graphene. One of the world’s firsts this device has.

It’s not just some shiny finish to the phone or something superficial. The Graphene actually helps with the overall thermal management of the phone by basically making the entire device a heat sync of sorts, without it affecting how it feels to the touch. In fact, realme calls this their IceSense design and the colorway we got the realme GT 7 in is IceSense Blue.

Compared to the other phones I’ve tested out recently, the GT 7 does feel a little heavier, as it is listed at 205 grams, but its still very comfortable to hold and the matte finish actually feels really smooth. To balance that, the flat edges of the phone gives you a better grip.

The right side houses the volume rock and power button in a nice little hit of red, which you’ll also see around the camera array. While the bottom has the SIM card slot, USB port, plus one of the speakers.

realme GT 7 First Impressions: Display

For its display, we’re getting a 6.78-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz that meets everything we typically want out of a device that’s a supposed flagship killer. What I like about the display of the realme GT 7 though is that its peak brightness is listed at 6000 nits and, with how crazy the sun still is at this time of the year, that will really help with sunlight legibility.

The display is paired with stereo speakers, with one hidden in the earpiece of the device. This placement usually results in poor output but that doesn’t seem to be the case with this phone and there seems to be very little distortion at higher volumes too.

realme GT 7 First Impressions: Internals and Software

Under the hood, we’ll find two of the other World’s First realme is claiming to have. One is the processor, which is the Mediatek Dimensity 9400e, and the other is a massive 7000mAh silicon carbon battery. I’m not at liberty to share our benchmark results yet but, let’s just say that they are promising and there is a very strong case for this phone to rank amongst our top picks when 2025 is all said and done.

The Dimensity 9400e is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage so realme is really keeping the card stacked so you get the best possible experience with this phone.

On the software side of things, we have realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15. There are the usual pre-installed apps that we typically see on realme devices but it doesn’t go overboard.

realme GT7 First Impressions: Camera

For its shooters, there are a total of three on the back. You have a 50-megapixel main camera with a IMX906 sensor and OIS, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide. For selfies, we’re getting a 32-megapixel camera in a punch hole.

As far as video capabilities go, you can shoot up to 8K video on the main camera plus 4k 120 fps if you want slow-mo shots. 4K video is relegated to the main and telephoto camera though as the option to go Ultrawide is locked out unless you lower the resolution to 1080p.The front camera is 4K ready though, which is to be expected for a phone of the realme GT 7’s caliber.

realme GT 7 First Impressions: Pricing and Availability

Unfortunately, as of writing this, we have no details about the pricing of the realme GT 7 in the Philippines just yet. But, we will update this portion as soon as we get more details. Until then, stay tuned for the official launch of the realme GT 7.

We’re just hoping that the price is right for the realme GT 7 because if it comes in at a reasonable price point, other flagship killers have to start watching their own backs.
