realme GT3 Coming Soon with 240w Charging; Based on GT Neo 5?

realme is getting ready for MWC 2023 by teasing the GT3 with 240w charging. Will it be based on the China-only GT Neo5?

Just roughly a year since the GT2 series was unveiled globally, realme is set to announce the GT3 at MWC 2023. In its global Twitter account, realme reveals that the GT3 will support 240w charging, which is the highest charging speed that is allowable with current USB-PD standards.

realme’s 240w charging solution is made possible with a use of a 20V/12A power adapter that’s included in the box. realme claims that it can fully charge a 4600mAh battery in under 10 minutes and give you 50% battery life in 4 minutes. In addition, realme adds that a quick 30-second top-up can provide up to 2 hours of talk time.

Not much is known yet about the GT3, but a number of speculations point to it being a rebranded version of the China-only GT Neo5 240w, which was recently announced. Aside from a fancy rectangle LED notification light in the back, the GT Neo5 comes with a 4600mAh battery that also supports 240w charging.

The GT Neo5 uses a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which is not the latest but is still powerful enough to make it qualify as a flagship. The 240w version comes with 16GB RAM and as much as 1TB of internal storage–the latter being a first for realme.

The 6.74-inch AMOLED display of the GT Neo5 has a blazing-fast 144hz refresh rate and a 2772×1240 resolution that is equivalent to 1.5k–similar to the Xiaomi 12T series. Most of the GT Neo5’s cameras are ordinary–16-megapixel selfie shooter, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel macro–save for the IMX890 sensor that will be used on the main camera. Aside from the new sensor, the GT Neo5’s main camera comes with OIS and a 6p lens.

As for pricing, the realme GT Neo5 240w is priced at CNY 3200(~Php 25.8k) for the 256GB version and CNY 3500(~Php 28.2k) for the 1TB version, making it one of the most affordable phones to have 1TB of storage–and that’s IF realme does indeed make the GT Neo5 240w available globally as the GT3.
