Samsung officially unveils the “lightweight” version of its Galaxy S23 series with the Galaxy A34 and A54. We emphasize on the new A-series models as affordable versions of the Galaxy S23 series since Samsung decided to use the same design language, where you get individual camera bumps on the back panel.

Both the Galaxy A34 and A54 have a lot in common when it comes to features. These include an IP67 rating, a 5000mAh battery with 25w wired charging, OIS on their main camera, 5-megapixel macro camera, 120hz AMOLED displays with in-display fingerprint scanners, stereo speakers, up to 4 years of Major Android Updates, and up to 5 years of security updates.

The Galaxy A34 has a bigger 6.6-inch display and a notch for a 13-megapixel selfie camera, along with a 48-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. It has a frosted polycarbonate back panel that has a premium finish that feels like glass. Instead of an Exynos processor, the Galaxy A34 uses a Dimensity 1080 processor.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A54 feels much closer to a Galaxy S23 with its glossy glass back and 6.4-inch AMOLED panel with a centrally-placed punch-hole for the 32-megapixel selfie shooter. You are getting a higher-resolution 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel main camera–the latter being the same sensor used on the Galaxy S23 and S23+.

The Galaxy A54 uses Samsung’s new Exynos 1380 processor, a 5nm-based chip that has four Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.4Ghz and 4 Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz. It uses an Arm Mali-G68 MP5 GPU that gives it support for 200-megapixel cameras (or three 16-megapixel cameras) and 144hz Full HD+ displays. The new processor also brings support for LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The Samsung Galaxy A34 is priced at Php 19,990 for the 128GB model and Php 21,990 for the 256GB model, while the Galaxy A54 is priced at Php 24,990 for the 128GB model and Php 26,990 for the 256GB model.  For the pre-order promo, those who will buy either phone until March 30 will get a free storage upgrade to 256GB, along with a 25w travel adapter. In addition, they will get a 50% discount on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro and 30% off on the Galaxy Watch5 Series.
