Hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus!

Playing around with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Stunning hardware. Monstrous specs. Brand spanking new software. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first smartphone that will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. We were able to spend time with the display unit at the PLDT-SMART Jump Experience Center in SM Megamall. What did we think about the Galaxy Nexus after around 30 minutes playing around with the device? We walked away wanting more! This is a ridiculously addictive phone.

Check out our photos below as well as our hands-on impressions. Don’t forget to read the captions!

It's delightfully thin. It only measures 123.9 x 63 x 10.9 mm.
The Galaxy Nexus actually curves up a bit at the bottom if you'll notice from this photo.
Gorgeous display. Super AMOLED 480x800 on a 4" screen. It's bigger than an iPhone 4 but not as massive as the Galaxy Note. It's just right for almost everyone.
I don't know if it's the software or the specs but the user experience on Android 4.0 ICS is much smoother. Animations are fluid. Applications run fast.
The star of the show is definitely Android 4.0 ICS. I can't wait for the upgrade to be available on the Samsung Galaxy Note!

Here’s a video that gives a quick run-down of the features of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We weren’t able to try all of them so I guess that will have to wait for another time.

We were kinda restricted in using the phone because it was tied down to the pedestal (for obvious reasons) and there were barely any apps on it. Because of this we can’t tell you guys a lot… yet. We’re due to get a loaner review unit soon so expect a unboxing and the full comprehensive review in the next week or two!

Major Update: We just confirmed with Smart (exclusive launch partner of the Galaxy Nexus) that the online reservation date for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is on January 21, 2012. We’ll post the link once we have it. It looks like we won’t have to wait long before this is available!

there’s no memory card slot, which is quite a bummer, as was the case of nexus s. therefore also lacking USB mass storage feature. but super amazing phone.
