Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Google Pixel 3 Reign Supreme in DxOMark’s First-Ever Selfie Test

DxOMark is expanding its myriad of tests

For the past few years, DxOMark has been focused on testing the capabilities of smartphones for both photo and video. Their tests, however, is limited to the phone’s rear cameras. As part of its efforts in expanding its tests, DxOMark announced that they will be testing the front cameras of smartphones with its selfie scoring system.

Debuting with 12 test devices, the Google Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 emerged as top dogs in the selfie department, with both scoring 92. Trailing behind them is Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 3 and Apple’s iPhone XS Max, scoring 84 and 82 respectively.

While the Galaxy Note 9 and Pixel 3 have similar scores, they have different strengths: the former excels in having very good exposure, contrast, and color rendering, with emphasis on minimal noise. The latter, on the other hand, excels in producing clear details and with its speedy autofocus.

You can check out the selfie camera reviews of the 12 phone at DxOMark’s site.
