The SM-G9198 is certainly unique
Samsung is apparently going back to its roots and is reportedly launching a clamshell-type smartphone in China. Dubbed the SM-G9198, the new phone showed up in China’s Telecommunications Equipment Certification Center (or TENAA) for certification. As dated as the form factor is, the new phone sports rather impressive specs – a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage as well as microSD expansion.
While the 3.91-inch AMOLED display with 1280 x 768 resolution is obviously smaller than other devices because of the form factor, it’s still pretty good, and it sports two of them. While Clamshell phones have lost their appeal in most countries, it’s still apparently a thing in China, Japan, and South Korea. Besides, there’s something satisfying and final when you close your clamshell when ending a call – something that normal smartphones can’t replicate.
Would you buy this clamshell phone if it was offered here?
