Samsung Working on a 250-Megapixel Sensor

It will be bigger than the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 108-megapixel sensor

While Samsung has plans to launch an insane 600-megapixel sensor in the future, one of its short-term goals is to unveil a 250-megapixel sensor. According to a report by MyDrivers, the said sensor will have a 1-inch size, making it bigger than the 1/1.33-inch size of the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 108-megapixel main rear camera.

Aside from the rumored 250-megapixel sensor, Samsung has reportedly finished its R&D for a 150-megapixel sensor. Slated to become available to commercial devices by second half of 2020, Xiaomi is expected to be the first brand to use the new 150-megapixel sensor, followed by OPPO and vivo.

Samsung fans have to wait a little bit, however: MyDrivers noted that the upcoming Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 will use a 108-megapixel sensor, but will more likely be an improved version of what is used on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
