Sony sticks with its tried and tested design for its two newest smartphones!
Iteration is what Sony is good at, so it comes as no surprise that two of Sony’s new smartphones, the Z3 and the Z3 Compact, is almost identical to the phones that came before them. Looking at the front of both of the devices, it’s clear that Sony did one major design change to their OmniBalance philosophy – rounded corners. The Z3 has a reduced bezel size, which is just Sony keeping up with the times. The Z3 is thinner than the Z2 by a few mm (7.3mm from 8.2). Both devices are IP68/65 rated, which means they can take being dunked in water without any big issues.

As you can see, there’s not much difference in the specs of both devices, as the Z3 Compact has pretty much the same SoC as its bigger brother with just 1GB of RAM less. People looking for a major updgrade for the Z3 will be disappointed to learn that the Z3 only has a minor spec bump over the Z2, carrying a slightly higher clocked Snapdragon 801 processor compared to the Z2.
