Even more action cams for the adventurous!
While most people automatically think of GoPro when they talk action cams, there’s a lot of other brands that make go anywhere, do anything cameras for adventurers. Sony is one such company, and the company has officially released (actually, re-released one of) their Action Cam offerings to the PH market: the AS30V and AS100V.
The AS30V is the older model of the two, though that doesn’t mean its less capable. The AS30V has an 11.9MP effective Exmor R CMOS sensor inside, and a F2.8 Zeiss Tessar lens with a 170 FOV. It’s capable of taking up to 1080p resolution videos at 60 FPS, image stabilization, and has NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS on board. As you can see from the photo, its natural habitat is inside of the included waterproof case that allows it to go under water down to 5 meters, though an optional accessory can extend that up to 60 meters.
The AS100V on the other hand, is the newest iteration of the Action Cam. It has a 13.5MP effective Exmor R CMOS sensor, F2.8 Zeiss Tessar lens with 170 FOV, up to 1080p recording at 60 FPS, image stabilization and all the wireless features of its older brother, namely NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS. Unlike its older brother, it’s already splashproof outside of its case, though Sony still recommends sticking it inside a waterproof case if you plan on getting wet with the device.
Both cameras can be controlled via a live-view remote, although you can also connect to them using your smartphone via Wi-Fi, or if your device has NFC, by simply tapping on the side of the device.
Sony is also releasing a number of accessories and mounts that are compatible with both models to the local market, including the uber cute doggy mount that you can put on your dog (or abnormally large cat). Finally, you can find out what your dog has really been up to when you leave the house!
The AS30V retails for Php 15,999 for just the camera. The AS30V bundle kit with Live View remote goes for Php 18,999. The AS100V goes for Php 20,999.
