You ask, we deliver
After we published our initial review of Starmobile’s newest budget device, the Play, we got a lot of requests in both Facebook and the comments to include a couple of sample photos from the device’s 5-megapixel fixed focus camera. The requests were understandable – Starmobile has a very good track record when it comes to putting decent optics in their cameras, and people were curious if that extended to their newest budget smartphone.

So here are some pictures that we took while we were going around Baler yesterday taken with the Starmobile Play’s main camera.
A couple of things to note: we noticed that there’s some definite lag between pressing the shutter button and when the phone actually takes the picture (around a quarter of a second).
The delay was off putting (to say it mildly) but after a while you get used to it. Doesn’t make it less annoying though, hehe.
As you can see, the Starmobile Play takes excellent photos as long as there’s enough natural light around. The colors don’t look too washed out, which is a positive sign. We also discovered that the Play has a panoramic feature, which is a nice thing to have, especially when you go sightseeing like we did.
Unfortunately the front camera of the Play isn’t the best in the world, but you can’t really expect too much from a VGA camera, now can you?
Expect our full review of the Starmobile Play later in the week.
