SteelSeries’ Alias Microphones Deliver Broadcast-Level Audio

SteelSeries’ Alias Microphones Deliver Broadcast-Level Audio

While best known for its gaming keyboards and mice, SteelSeries is expanding into gaming microphones as well with the Alias series. It took SteelSeries three years to design the Alias as a complete microphone system for gamers.

Making the SteelSeries Alias stand out from other gaming microphones is its use of a custom-built 1-inch condenser capsule that is triple the size of standard microphone capsules. That large condenser capsule is complemented with a custom-tuned cardioid capsule pattern that minimizes background noise while flawlessly capturing the gamer’s voice. The Alias also gets a custom shock mount and a streamlined design that allows gamers to be more animated during their streams.

To maximize the Alias’ microphone hardware, SteelSeries also developed a studio-grade software suite called Sonar for Streamers. This free software suite acts as an all-in-one studio and has features like an independent 10-band Parametric EQ with broadcast presets and ClearCast AI noise cancellation. Sonar also has pro-grade software mixing tools like Compressor and Limiter. On top of that, Sonar is compatible with standard video broadcasting software (OBS, Streamlabs, etc.) and utilizes CPU processing.

The Alias and Alias Pro cater to different gamers: the standard Alias plugs in via USB, while the Pro version uses a balanced XLR system with pre-amplifier and 48V phantom power that reduces noise and interference. Both microphones are capable of delivering broadcast-quality 24bit/48kHz audio. The standard Alias has a 5-stage LED indicator for monitoring peak mic levels, while the Pro version has an XLR Stream Mixer for routing and mixing up to 5 audio channels.

The SteelSeries Alias is priced at Php 11,100, while the Alias Pro is priced at Php 19,555. The Alias Pro is available in the Philippines via Lazada and Shopee. The Alias Microphone will be available later this month.
