Ban Workaround: TD Tech Will Start Selling Huawei Devices Under Own Name

Following reports of Huawei exploring the idea of licensing its smartphone designs to third parties, It seems that TD Tech might go ahead and have a lineup that consists of Huawei devices under a different name. To date, TD Tech has announced a new device called the TD Tech N8 Pro–which is basically a rebranded Huawei nova 8 Pro 5G. To recap, the nova 8 Pro 5G is powered by a Kirin 985 processor and has a curved OLED panel with a 120hz refresh rate, 64-megapixel main camera, and 66w wired charging.

To make things more interesting, media house WYLAB shared on Weibo TD Tech’s alleged product lineup that will consist of familiar Huawei products. From the image, we expect to see TD Tech’s own version of the Mate series, P-series, nova series, Enjoy series, Watch GT series, Band series, MatePad series, and Vision series.

Given that TD Tech’s first product does not use the nova branding, we expect the Huawei products mentioned in the leak to use a different name. There is no definite date when TD Tech will launch these products, but since they are mostly Huawei devices under a different name, they might announce them in the coming months.

If all goes into plan, TD Tech might be Huawei’s answer to circumvent the restrictions it is currently facing due to the US trade ban. By licensing its smartphone designs to a third party, this might allow Huawei to gain access to crucial 5G modems and TSMC chipsets, along with bringing back Google services to its products.
