The Galaxy A54 Will Still Use an Exynos Processor

While the entire Galaxy S23 series use Snapdragon processors exclusively, Samsung’s Exynos processors are not completely dead yet. More reports are confirming that the upcoming Galaxy A54 will follow in its predecessor’s footsteps by using an Exynos processor–specifically, the Exynos 1380.

As an update over the Exynos 1280, the 1380 is an octa-core processor with 4 Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.4Ghz and 4 Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0Ghz. It’s also an upgrade, as the Exynos 1380 supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, along with support for 200-megapixel cameras and 144hz Full HD+ displays. We’re not sure how big of an upgrade is the Exynos 1380 in the GPU department, as the official spec sheet states that it’s going to use the same Mali-G68 GPU found on its predecessor.

Looking through the renders, it appears that the Galaxy A54 will have slightly thicker bezels than its predecessor, and will follow the design language of the Galaxy S23 series with the flat frame sides and individual camera bumps for the three rear cameras. The display will be a bit smaller at 6.4 inches but remains to be an AMOLED panel with a 120hz refresh rate. The triple rear camera setup consists of. 5-megapixel macro, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and 50-megapixel main camera–though it remains to be seen if the main camera uses the same sensor found on the more expensive Galaxy S23 models.

Despite having a smaller display, the battery appears to be the same at 5000mAh and still supports 25w charging. You still get an IP67 rating as well, as well as 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.

Overall, the design and specs of the Galaxy A54 makes it appear that it will be a toned-down version of the Galaxy S23–but we’re still hesitant about its use of an Exynos processor. The Galaxy A54 is expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
