The LG G7 ThinQ is an Improvement over the V30 According to DxOMark

Overall score places it in mid-range territory

DxOMark just released its scores for the LG G7 ThinQ. With an overall score of 83, the G7 ThinQ is a point ahead of the video-centric V30—which was launched last year.

Comparing it to LG’s 2017 flagship, the G7 ThinQ makes a significant improvement with video, especially in handling texture, noise, and color. DxOMark emphasized the G7 ThinQ’s improvement in handling color, citing very good color rendering for both indoors and outdoors. In addition, DxOMark noted the G7 ThinQ’s improvement in handling exposure even in backlit situations.

In spite of the improvements, the G7 ThinQ struggles with handling texture and noise, as DxOMark notes the phone’s struggles in losing fine detail even in bright light. In addition, autofocusing can be improved further, as the G7 ThinQ lacks tracking capabilities.

While the G7 ThinQ marks an improvement over the V30’s LG’s 2018 flagship still has a long way in going against the flagship offerings of Apple, Huawei, and Samsung. For reference, Apple’s iPhone XS Max scored 105, while Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 scored 103. Huawei’s P20 remains to be on top, with an overall score of 109.
