Tough, drop-resistant phones with IP ratings are the new meta in the Philippines, which is why Nubia is bringing over their V70 Max to local stores soon. Interestingly enough, Nubia, in the listing in Lazada and Shopee, only mentions drop resistance with the V70 Max, and does not have any mention of IP ratings in its listings. That’s a stark contrast to the phones it’ll be going up against, which both have drop resistance AND ingress protection ratings.
Aside from its drop resistance, it’s a fairly uninteresting phone – it has a circular camera module on the back like most of the new Android devices nowadays, underwhelming Unisoc T606 processor, a 3.5mm jack, 6.9-inch display with a notch from 5 years ago, as well as a 6000mAh battery pack to power everything.
It’s also a 4G-only phone, which tells us already that it’s going to be targeted at the lower end of the market. There’s no price set for this phone as of yet, though it’s slated to be released on Feb 15.
