The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Has S-Pen Support, Under-Display Camera And IP Rating

With much anticipation, Samsung unveiled its third-generation foldable with the Galaxy Z Fold3. Making this a big, big upgrade over its predecessor is its support for S-Pen, an under-display selfie camera, and an IPX8 rating–the latter being a big first for any foldable device.

  • 4400mAh battery

While the Galaxy Z Fold3 looks virtually identical to its predecessor, the 6.2-inch external display now has a smoother 120hz refresh rate. The flexible 7.6-inch inner display now has an under-display camera–a first for Samsung–that houses a 4-megapixel sensor. This makes Samsung the second brand after ZTE to make under-display camera tech available commercially.

Another key upgrade to the Galaxy Z Fold3’s display is its support for the S-Pen, making it Samsung’s first foldable to support a stylus. The overall build is also better, with Samsung using an “Armor Aluminum” chassis on the Galaxy Z Fold3, along with Gorilla Glass Victus on the outer display and back panel and Gorilla Glass DX for the rear camera lenses. You also get an IPx8 rating on the Galaxy Z Fold3, making it the first foldable to have an IP rating.

The triple rear camera setup remains the same as its predecessor: 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 12-megapixel f/1.8 main camera Super Speed Dual Pixel AF and OIS, and a 12-megapixel f/2.4  telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, PDAF, and Dual OIS. The same goes for the punch-hole camera in the outer display, which has a 10-megapixel sensor and an f/2.2 aperture.

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold3 is a Snapdragon 888 processor that is paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB internal storage, with a 4400mAh dual-cell battery keeping the lights on.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Philippines Price

Despite the upgrades, Samsung is making the Galaxy Z Fold3 more affordable than its predecessors. With an official SRP of Php 87,990 for the 256GB variant and Php 95,990 for the 512GB variant, this is the first time that Samsung’s flagship foldable phone has a price that is below the Php 100k mark, setting a new price benchmark for foldable devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 is available for pre-order from August 19 to September 21. Aside from an additional 1 year of Samsung Care+, you can choose from either an e-voucher valued at Php 5,000, 50% off on a Flip Cover with S Pen, Galaxy Buds Pro, and a 25W Travel Adapter, or a token worth Php 10,000 and a 25W Travel Adapter.
