The Successors Are Here: Redmi Unveils Quad Rear Camera-Sporting Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro

A follow-up to one of the best mid-range phones for 2019

With the Redmi Note 7 series being successful, the brand is riding on with the momentum by launching the Redmi Note 8 series. The new phones now come with bigger batteries, bigger displays, and quad rear camera setups.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is officially the first smartphone to have a 64-megapixel main rear camera—using Samsung’s ISOCELL GW1 sensor. Accompanying it is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel macro camera, and 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Aside from being the first phone to have a 64-megapixel camera, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is also the first to use MediaTek’s gaming-centric Helio G90T processor. To keep temps stable, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is also the first phone under the Redmi brand to have a liquid cooling chamber. Keeping the lights on is a large 4500mAh battery with support for 18w charging.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 8 swaps the Pro model’s 64-megapixel ISOCELL GW1 sensor for an updated 48-megapixel ISOCELL GM2 sensor. Instead of a centrally-placed camera module placement, the Redmi Note 8 settles for a more conventional camera module placement.

Powering it is a Snapdragon 665 processor. Like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 8 also comes with a 4000mAh battery with 18w quick charging.
