The TECNO Spark Go 2023 Finally Gets USB-C

TECNO is shifting to USB-C on its entry-level phones starting with the Spark Go 2023.

USB-C is set to become the standard in 2024 thanks to the EU, and while we’re waiting for Apple to ditch Lightning on its iPhones, we’re glad to see budget phones make the shift. A good example is the Spark Go 2023, where TECNO ditches the MicroUSB it used on previous iterations with USB-C.

While charging speeds is “only” 10w, having USB-C even on a budget phone is a definite must-have for 2023.

Outside of the shift to USB-C, the Spark Go 2023 is a modest entry-level device since it’s powered by a Helio A22 processor with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB internal storage. The processor might be noteworthy, but 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage should be the bare minimum for budget phones in 2023.

Other features of the Spark Go 2023 are a geometric design on the back panel, a large camera bump that has two cameras (13-megapixel main camera and QVGA depth sensor) and a fingerprint scanner, a basic 6.56-inch display with a notch for the 5-megapixel selfie shooter, and a 5000mAh battery.

While TECNO has yet to reveal the price of the Spark Go 2023, previous leaks mentioned that the 3GB/32GB variant will be priced at Rs 6,999 or roughly Php 5k when converted. That should make the 4GB/64GB version have a price of under Php 6k, which we think is a fair asking price especially if you factor in the USB-C port on an entry-level phone.
