The vivo Y100A Looks Familiar–but with a 5G Twist

When the vivo V25e arrived in the Philippines last year, we were generally ok with the mid-range phone–save for the fact that it was limited to 4G connectivity. But what if the V25e came with a 5G-ready processor? That might be the case for the Y100a that vivo unveiled in India.

Aside from looking very similar to the V25e, the Y100a shares a few common features too: its triple rear camera setup is led by a 64-megapixel main shooter with OIS, and it packs a 4500mAh battery inside with support for 44w charging. While the Y100a uses two individual circles instead of a camera bump, it boasts a color-changing glass back for the gold and blue models.

In the front, you get a 90hz AMOLED display with a notch, though the display is a smidge smaller at 6.38 inches and the selfie shooter is just 16 megapixels. You also get 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage like the V25e, but the biggest draw of the Y100a is that it uses a Snapdragon 695 processor that adds 5G connectivity and is more powerful than the Helio G99.

Overall, the Y100a feels like a 5G-ready version of the V25e, which is not bad especially if you consider the inclusion of OIS on the main camera. It has been months since vivo brought over a new Y-series phone to the Philippines, so there might be a chance that the Y100a might make it to our shores.
