The Xiaomi 13 Series Retain Leica Optics, Finally Has IP68 Rating

Despite being delayed by a week, Xiaomi was able to push through with the launch of the 13 series in China–which comprises of a vanilla and Pro model and no Ultra variant. Aside from the obvious design change, where you get flat frame sides a la iPhone, both models get a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 processor, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage. Another key update on both phones is that they finally have an IP68 rating–one feature that has been missing on Xiaomi flagship devices in the past few years.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro may have the same display used on the 12/12s Pro, but it is said to be brighter. You still get a triple 50-megapixel camera setup, though you get a different set of sensors: IMX 989 main camera with Hyper OIS, an updated telephoto camera that has a floating lens element and 3x optical zoom instead of 2x, and an ultra-wide-angle camera that also has autofocus. The battery is also bigger at 4820mAh, and you still get 120w wired and 50w wireless charging.

Save for the blue color variant that has a leather back, the rest of the Xiaomi 13 Pro models come with a ceramic back.

The Xiaomi 13, on the other hand, is slightly bigger now with its 6.36-inch AMOLED display–though battery capacity remains the same at 4500mAh, and the same goes for its charging speeds. Like its Pro sibling, the vanilla model gets some upgrades in the camera department: the main camera now uses an IMX 800 sensor, the ultra-wide-angle camera is now 12-megapixels, and the vanilla model finally gets a proper telephoto camera in the form of a 10-megapixel sensor with 3x optical zoom.

The vanilla model settles for a regular glass back, with the blue colorway also getting the leather back option. Unlike the Pro version, the vanilla model has more flashy color options that include Red, Yellow, Green and Blue.
