Will Xiaomi discontinue both lines?
With Xiaomi launching several new lines lately (the Pocophone, CC series, and Redmi K series to name a few), it is not surprising that the Chinese brand will be streamlining its porfolio of phones. In a Weibo post by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, he said that Xiaomi will focus on the Mi 9, Mi MIX, and the upcoming CC series, while the Redmi brand will focus on cost-effective models. However, Jun noted that there will be no Mi Max and Mi Note phones–at least for this year.
The last Mi Max model was the Mi Max 3 last year, while the last Mi Note model was the Mi Note 3 last 2017. While the Redmi K20 is the possible successor of the Mi Note line, Xiaomi will be leaving a void if they plan to discontinue the Mi Max line–right now, Xiaomi has no true phablet phone that can replace the Mi Max line.
