Even by luxury phone standards, this is crazy
We’re no strangers to extremely expensive luxury phones that don’t have the same specs of flagships that are priced thousands of pesos below them, but the New Defency coming from French company Hanmac is something else. The new phone has a truly unique, steampunk-ish design that’s hand assembled by artisans employed by the company, and cost around $ 3,100 or roughly Php 137K. Because of the price, we’re also going to assume that they throw in a bit of unicorn blood in there too.
Surely for the price you’re paying for, you’re getting a top tier processor, right? Possibly Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 or barring that, a Snapdragon 805? Nope. What you are getting is MediaTek’s 6589 processor, clocked at a whopping 1.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 3-megapxiel front. The 3.5-inch display (yes, that’s not a typo) has a resolution of 480 x 800 (yes, still not a typo), while a 1,440mAh battery and Android 4.2 (we really wish that was a typo) rounds out the feature set.
Take notes everyone: this is the very definition of an overpriced smartphone.
