Now even tiangges can receive credit card payments

Globe has revealed a way for any business, specifically small businesses to be able to accept credit card payments using their mobile device. Dubbed Globe Charge, the new service has been specifically tailored for small merchants, which don’t always have the resources to secure a credit card terminal as those usually requires cash upfront, or a minimum amount of transactions per day.

Globe Charge is easy enough to use. SMB owners can get the kit for the service for just 999 a month which includes a Samsung Galaxy Win, the Globe Charge POS system (which connects through the 3.5mm jack) and surf/text/call combos. The transaction for Globe Charge is much like a regular credit card purchase – the merchant puts in the amount to be charged, the customer swipes the card and voila. There is even a screen for customers to sign on right after the transaction. If you don’t like being tied down to a monthly plan, you can grab the prepaid version which is just Php 999. Whatever version you get, you will have to download the Charge app from Google Play. There will also be an iOS version of the app that will be released soon.

The application process is quick, around a week, and Globe says their cut is lower than the one for regular POS, going as low as 2.9%, though it depends on the industry. Globe has also said that data charges will be waived for the service if you are using a Globe SIM, though it will work with other telcos, with standard data charges. You will need a G-Cash account, though Globe has said that they will transfer your funds to bank account you nominate (as fast as the next day) free of charge, automatically. As of now only MasterCard credit and debit cards will be accepted, though Globe has said that they are working on implementing Visa payments, with ATM payments planned in the pipeline.
