Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0 (Php8,999)

Wowza. Very good smartphone.
Wowza. Very good smartphone.

The Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0 is arguably one of the very best in this category of smartphones. It has a quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 2100mAh battery, and a 12-megapixel shooter with BSI. To top it all off, it looks gorgeous. It has one of the thinnest bezels and the fact that the display is HD means that all of your content looks even much better. You can’t go wrong with this one folks. Click here to read our review of the venerable Cherry Mobile Omega 2.0.

Huawei Ascend G525 (Php6,990)

Wow!
Wow!

Huawei dropped a bomb when they announced the Huawei Ascend G525 for local release. Aggressively priced at Php6,990, Huawei is definitely out for the blood of local brands which have successfully dominated the budget smartphone market. While this handset already has a quad-core processor and 1GB RAM, it still has a few compromises. The most noticeable is the absence of LED flash for the 5MP shooter at the back. It also only has 1,700mAh battery rating so that doesn’t bode too well for battery life. Everything considered though it’s still very respectable given the price. Lenovo A706 (Php7,990)

Lenovo’s newest baby is a very affordable offering!

Lenovo is another global brand that’s hell bent on reclaiming market share on the budget smartphone category. The Lenovo A706 is the perfect weapon of choice to accomplish this task as it sports a quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, and a stylish exterior that will put a lot of the other handsets in the list to shame. It also can potentially last quite a while since it has a 2,000mAh battery. Not bad right? Definitely worth looking at if you’re in the market for a smartphone and you have less than Php10,000 budget. Click here to read our initial feature on the Lenovo A706.

MyPhone A919i Duo (Php9,590)

5.0-inch HD display. Quad-core processor. 1GB RAM. 2,000mAh battery. With these specs and a Php2,000 sale, MyPhone almost caused a stampede at the SM North Edsa Annex during the launch of this handset. Can’t blame ’em though. The specs are already fair for the SRP so it was practically a steal at Php7,900 during launch day. Click here to watch the MyPhone A919i Duo live on the Unbox Video Podcast.

Starmobile Diamond V3 (Php8,990)

The Starmobile Diamond V3 was the first quad-core device shipped by Starmobile. It can be considered a “phablet” already though as it has a 5.3-inch display. Fortunately that size isn’t too unmanageable yet so it’s still a good device even for people with not-so-big hands. Click here to read our review of the Starmobile Diamond V3.

Cherry Mobile Razor (Php6,499)

Peso for peso the Cherry Mobile Razor gives you the most punch for your money. At an amazingly low price of just Php6,499 you already get a quad-core smartphone running Android Jelly Bean 4.2 with 1GB of RAM. It’s also “razor” thin at just 7.7mm. The only drawback really is the battery (just 1750mAh) but we will only be able to confirm if it’s indeed an issue once we’ve gotten a unit for a full review. If the Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0’s 5.7-inch display is too big for you then you might want to check out the Cherry Mobile Skyfire 2.0. This device has almost the same specs save for the size of the screen (5-inch qHD). The over-all chassis design though is amazing. Arc Mobile Nitro 450QD (Php5,490)

Very promising offering from Arc Mobile
Very promising offering from Arc Mobile

The Arc Mobile Nitro 450QD has earned the distinction of being the most affordable quad-core handset in the market today. However the compromise they made to achieve the very low price was to set the RAM To just 512MB. Generally the phone is okay but it will struggle if you try graphics intensive applications like hardcore or 3D games. Click here to read our review of the Arc Mobile Nitro 450QD.
