One of my colleagues at work brought her new gadget to the office today — the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1! She was kind enough to hold off the urge to open the box and play around with the tablet when she first got it this morning so that we could take some photos for everyone here for the unboxing.
The packaging and the way the product is presented will definitely remind you of Apple’s iPad. However you’ll immediately notice the difference once you pick this one up. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 feels longer and lighter compared to the iPad 2. The lower weight is mainly due to the material used for the Tab. Unlike the aluminum used for the iPad 2, Samsung decided to go for plastic. I’m not sure what the ramifications are of using plastic. Hopefully this thing will still be as sturdy as the iPad 2.
Also I wasn’t able to compare since my iPad 2 was at home but the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 looked longer than the iPad 2.
Inside the box you’ll find the charger, headphones, and a manual. Pretty straightforward.
I invited my officemate to do a review after she uses it for a couple of weeks. Will post it here once she finishes it.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 still isn’t officially available in the Philippines but several bloggers are saying that it should be coming in either August or September.
