Upcoming Nubia Red Magic 5G Flexes True 144fps Gaming

Making the most out of the Snapdragon 865

Without a doubt, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 can do serious muscle, whether it involves breaking AnTuTu records or recording crisp 8K video. While the Snapdragon 865 focused more on imaging-related enhancements, it is a de facto processor of choice for 2020 gaming phones. How much power can it pull off? Gamebench recently tested a pre-production version of Nubia’s upcoming Red Magic 5G smartphone, which boasts of the 2020 flagship processor, along with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.0 internal storage, a display that can handle up to 144hz, and an active cooling system.

To see how good are the Red Magic 5G’s internals, Gamebench ran Real Racing 3 at the maximum possible settings for over 30 minutes. The result? The Red Magic 5G managed to max out its display refresh rate, garnering a median FPS of 144 and a minimum FPS of 142, along with stable gameplay throughout the whole session.

If that’s not enough, Gamebench also tested the Red Magic 5G with Chinese versions of PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor. In their test, the Red Magic 5G managed to max out PUBG Mobile with a median FPS of 90 and minimum FPS of 83. Not bad at all.

Nubia has yet revealed when it will unveil the Red Magic 5G, but rumored specs include a 4400mAh battery with up to 80w wired charging, 6.65-inch display, and a triple rear camera setup.
