Here’s What the vivo V50 Series Will (More or Less) Be

While we wait for the arrival of the X200 Pro in the Philippines on December 15, Vivo unveiled the S20 series in China–and we know that they are more or less the basis for the next V series phones. Like their predecessors, the differences between the S20 and S20 Pro are more in the cameras, battery, and processor.

Starting with the display, both S20 models use a 6.67-inch 120hz AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 4500nits, a 50-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus, and an optical in-display fingerprint scanner. The regular S20 has a flat panel, while the S20 Pro has a micro quad-curved design that’s trending with other phones.

For the processor, the S20 still uses a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 like its last 2 predecessors, while the Pro model gets an upgrade with a Dimensity 9300+ processor that has support for WiFi 7. As for the battery, the S20 has a huge 6500mAh cell will 80w charging, while the Pro model goes for a 5500mAh cell with 90w charging.

The biggest difference between the two models is the cameras. The S20 has an OV50E main camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and vivo’s Aura Light. The Pro model upgrades to an IMX921 sensor with OIS, an IMX882 sensor for the periscope camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

The S20 starts at CNY 2299(~Php 19k) for the 8GB/256GB model, while the S20 Pro starts at CNY 3399(~Php 28k) for the 12GB/256GB model. Both will be available in China on December 12, and we expect them to go official globally as the V50 series.
