The V40e is Still Promising Even Without ZEISS

Following the launch of the V40 in the Philippines, vivo unveiled the V40e in India as an affordable version without the ZEISS branding.

Despite the lack of ZEISS co-engineering, the V40e has a capable camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel selfie camera with Eye AF, a 50-megapixel IMX882 main camera with OIS, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

Powering the V40e is a Dimensity 7300 processor that’s paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The display may be the same 6.78-inch 120hz curved AMOLED panel, but the V40e only has a Full HD+ resolution. As for the IP rating, you get a slight downgrade at IP64–which is becoming the standard among midrange phones.

Save for the differences in the camera setup and processing package, the V40e looks similar to the V40 down to the Aura Light and overall design language. You also get the same 5500mAh battery that supports 80w charging, along with Android 14-based FunTouch OS. vivo promises 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security updates, which is better than most midrange phones on the market.

The vivo V40e is priced at INR 28,999(~Php 19.5k) for the 8GB/128GB model and INR 30,999(~Php 21k) for the 8GB/256GB model. Open sales start in India start on October 2, and we expect the V40e to arrive in the Philippines soon.
