Vivo V7+ Quick Review: Perfect Selfie in a FullView Display

Perfect selfies best viewed on a FullView Display

Vivo is the latest to join the FullView display with two models: The X20 and the V7+. The latter was recently launched at Mariott Hotel, and we got our hands on this much-awaited handset. Let us get a quick overview of its specs:

 Vivo V7+ Specs

  • 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor
  • Adreno 506 GPU
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 5.99-inch HD+ IPS LCD display; 1440×720 resolution
  • 64GB of expandable storage (up to 256GB via MicroSD card)
  • 4G, LTE
  • Dual SIM
  • 16-megapixel rear camera, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, LED Flash
  • 24-megapixel front camera, f/2.0 aperture
  • WiFi, Bluetooth
  • GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • Android 7.1 Nougat with FunTouch OS 3.2
  • 3225mAh Battery

Initial impressions: A sleek bezel-less smartphone

Unlike Vivo’s other offerings, the V7+’s front is predominantly screen, with slim bezels on top (where the Perfect Selfie 8-megapixel camera lies), and no buttons at the bottom. You have on-screen buttons instead of capacitive buttons found in Vivo’s other offerings. The bezel-less panel is a 5.99-inch HD+ IPS display, adorned with 2.5D glass.

You have your power button and volume controls on the right side.

You have your SIM tray on the left side. The SIM tray can hold two nano-SIMs and a MicroSD card.

At the phone’s bottom, you have your speaker, microphone, headphone jack, and Micro-USB port.

The phone’s rear is made out of polycarbonate, treated with a matte finish. Be wary though, as the rear is prone to smudges at times. In the back, you have your 16-megapixel, f/2.0 camera with LED flash, and your fingerprint scanner.

With a Snapdragon 450 processor and 4GB of RAM, the V7+ managed to score almost 60K when we did an AnTuTu benchmark test—which is quite spot on for a mid-range device. Apps ran smoothly on the V7+, and we did not encounter any lag on our initial test.

Being known for its Perfect selfie slogan, we gave the front camera a quick try, and that FullView display is very useful in framing our groufie properly:

That’s it for our quick review. Stay tuned on the site as we will be doing a full review soon!

The Vivo V7+ is priced at Php 17,990
