vivo’s iQOO Phone Surfaces, and It Is Not A Folding Phone

A flagship phone from vivo?

A few days ago, vivo announced its sub-brand iQOO, and there’s little word about the new brand’s target market. There are speculations that the sub-brand will manufacture premium devices, even rumors about producing a foldable device.

In time for NBA All-Star Weekend (where vivo signed a multi-year partnership), a Chinese presenter showed on screen iQOO’s first device. No, it is not a folding device; instead, the upcoming phone appears to be the usual slab with a glass back decked in gradient blue.

The iQOO phone also has a triple rear camera setup, and the absence of a fingerprint scanner fuels the possibility for an in-display fingerprint scanner (and presumably an AMOLED display).

Given its design, the iQOO phone appears to be a photo-centric offering that will rival those offered by Huawei and Honor. Since it is not a foldable phone (contrary to rumors), it is possible that it will have a sliding mechanism like the Honor Magic 2 and Mi Mix 3.

There’s little word yet on the iQOO phone, but we expect vivo to make an announcement soon.
