While vivo did launch a number of 5G-ready Y-series phones in the past few months, these are oftentimes exclusive to China. That is set to change, as the Y72 5G is the first 5G-ready Y-series phone to be made available in Asian markets, starting with Thailand.

As a budget 5G phone, you get a Dimensity 700Â processor, which is a 7nm-based 5G processor that runs at 2.2Ghz and supports dual 5G SIM standby. Like the Y31 (2021), you also get 8GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage, and a 6.58-inch Full HD+ display with a dewdrop notch and a conventional 60hz refresh rate. This time around though, you get a higher-resolution 16-megapixel selfie snapper. Keeping the lights on is a 5000mAh battery with 18w wired charging.
For the rear cameras, you get a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. You get the same set of photography features found on the Y31 (2021) like super night mode and EIS. For software, the Y72 5G comes with Android 11-based FunTouchOS 11.1 out of the box.
vivo Y72 5G Price
Over in Thailand, the Y72 5G is priced at 9,999 Baht(~Php 15.7k) and is up for pre-order from March 25 to 30, with official sales starting on March 31. Given that it will go on sale first in Thailand, there’s a good chance that the Y72 5G might be made available in the Philippines, especially since vivo has yet to have any budget 5G offering locally.
