Watch Out GoPro: DJI Unveils Osmo Action Camera

It is DJI’s first take at action cameras

It is inevitable: while DJI is known for its drones and gimbals, it was simply a matter of time before they go against GoPro with their own action camera. Their debut offering—the Osmo Action—aims to go against GoPro’s Hero 7 Black.

Aside from being slightly smaller than the Hero 7 Black, the Osmo Action gets two LCD displays: one used for framing yourself in selfies and vlogs, and one for operating the action camera. To match the Hero 7 Black’s Hypersmooth, the Osmo Action comes with RockSteady. DJI’s solution combines EIS with complex algorithms to give you buttery smooth footage.

Inside the Osmo Action is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX377 sensor with an Ambarella H2 image processor and an f/2.8 145-degree wide-angle lens. You can record 4K video at 60FPS and shoot slow-motion video at Full HD at 240FPS (or 8x). The Osmo Action is rugged, as it is waterproof for up to 11 meters and shockproof up to 1.5 meters.

Other features include HDR, up to 120-second shutter exposures, automatic time-lapse, and support for filters via a screw-on system.

The Osmo Action is priced at Php 22.8k. Pre-orders are ongoing.
