Hi-capacity, hi-performance external storage for your personal cloud

With the advent of fast, easily accessible internet everywhere, it makes sense to put everything that’s important to you in the cloud. Problem is, free cloud storage services are prone to downtime and security problems – two issues that make some people hesitant to put their most sensitive files online.

Of course, there’s always an alternative, and today, Western Digital unveiled their My Cloud family of personal cloud solutions in the form of the WD My Cloud, and the more advanced WD My Cloud EX4.

The WD My Cloud is a personal cloud system that works much like most external hard disk drives. What is different though is that Western Digital’s software that is embedded in every WD My Cloud device makes it easy for you to connect the My Cloud online quickly and securely. Once connected and configured to your home network via ethernet, you can access the contents of the drive via a desktop application or through mobile apps available for both Android and iOS. Users can also directly upload content like their personal videos and photos from their mobile devices like their tablets and phones directly to their WD My Cloud device, even if they’re on the other side of the world.

The WD My Cloud EX4 is targeted at inviduals and small home offices that require a high-performance NAS (network attached storage) that can be expanded as their home or business grows.  The EX4 has all the capabilities of the WD My Cloud and then some. Users can configure the EX4’s 4 drive bays with whatever storage combination they want, up to 16TB. The drives are also hot-swappable, and you can just slip in a new drive to replace the one that becomes full. Like the WD My Cloud, the EX4 still has the same cloud features and functionality that you need. Just think – you can access your home files anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection. Both devices can also connect to cloud storage services like Dropbox to transfer files.

The WD My Cloud retails for Php 11,490 for the 4TB version, Php 8,990 for the 3TB version and Php 7,490 for the 2TB version. For the WD My Cloud EX4, the suggested retail price is Php 55,190 for the 16TB version, Php 46,090 for the 12TB version, Php 38,490 for the 8TB version, and Php 17,990 for the driveless device (no hard drives attached).
