ASUS finally unveils its next-generation gaming phones in Taiwan with the ROG Phone 6 series. Consisting of a vanilla and Pro model, the ROG Phone 6 series maintains the same dimensions and form factor as the ROG Phone 5 series, with ASUS incorporating some upgrades to make them top-tier gaming phones for 2022.
On the outside, the ROG Phone 6 series has a bigger camera module that protrudes more than that of its predecessor. This is because ASUS upgraded the main camera to a 50-megapixel IMX 766 sensor–which is a popular choice among a number of flagship phones.
Despite having roughly the same dimensions and form factor, ASUS was able to add splash resistance on the ROG Phone 6 series–and is the first gaming phone to ever have one. Like last time, the ROG Phone 6 Pro has a ROG Vision rear display that’s bigger than the one used on the ROG Phone 5 Pro series and only differ in placement.
Powering both phones is the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. While ASUS did not disclose why they skipped on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, early benchmarks using an ROG Reference Device indicate better performance for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 while being more power efficient at the same time.
Another key upgrade of the ROG Phone 6 series is with the display, where the refresh rate is higher at 165hz, while the touch sampling rate is increased to 720hz for improved input response during heavy gaming sessions.

In Europe, the ROG Phone 6 is priced at 999 Euros(~Php 57.1k) for the 12GB/256GB model, while the ROG Phone 6 Pro is priced at 1299 Euros(~Php 74.2k) for the 18GB/512GB model. For local pricing and availability of the ROG Phone 6 series, ASUS Philippines will reveal more details soon.
