Why You Should Consider the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 as Your Next Laptop

One of the things that the pandemic has taught us is that it is possible to work remotely and get the job done–as long as you have a reliable laptop to go with it. There are many laptops to choose from, and 2-in-1 models like the Lenovo ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 are becoming popular lately because of their versatile form factor.

While the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 has tough competition to deal with, we think that you are getting your money’s worth with this 2-in-1 laptop. We run down all the things we like about the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2, and why you should consider it as your next laptop:

Proven premium design

Lenovo is seasoned when it comes to designing 2-in-1 laptops since the first Yoga back in 2012. You get that tried-and-tested zinc alloy 360-degree hinge that lets you use the ThinkBook Yoga 14S Gen 2 in four different modes. It also has a premium 3-side metal exterior build and has a 16.9mm thickness, which is impressive for a 2-in-1 laptop.

With its versatile form factor, Lenovo has also optimized the software of the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 to ensure that you get the most optimized experience regardless if you are using it as an e-Book, tablet, laptop, or in tent mode.

A display that’s great for work and play

Aside from being protected by Gorilla Glass–which is rare for any 2-in-1 laptop, the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2’s 14-inch Full HD display features a modern 4-side narrow bezel design that gives it a 86% screen-to-body ratio. In terms of color accuracy, it covers 93% of the sRGB gamut and 71% of the AdobeRGB gamut based on the results we got from our Spyder5Elite Colorimeter. This makes the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 not just great for general productivity, but also for content consumption with its support for Dolby Vision.

Generous port selection

A number of laptops nowadays keep the chassis slim at the expense of going for the dongle life. That’s not the case with the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2, as its 16.9mm chassis comes with a broad port selection that includes two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a full-size HDMI port, a headphone jack, microSD card slot, and a slot for the smart pen.

We really like how Lenovo made an effort to add a housing for the smart pen within the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2’s chassis without making any compromises on its overall thickness. Having the stylus garaged within the laptop ensures that you won’t misplace it and that it’s always ready to use in case you want to make the most out of the ThinkBook 14 Yoga Gen 2’s touchscreen display.

Privacy is well-ensured

Lenovo knows that its users really value their privacy, and the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 has that covered. You get a fingerprint scanner that’s embedded in the power button on the side for secure log-ins, and a physical shutter on the webcam to make sure that no one’s peeking at you while you’re not using it for video calls.

Aside from those two features, the ThinkBook Yoga 14S Gen 2 comes with a TPM 2.0 security chip, Kengsinton nano lock slot, and Glance by Mirametrix for added security and privacy for your data and work.

Decent internals

The ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 has you covered with the latest Intel Alder Lake processors up to a Core i7. Making the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 unique is that it comes with two M.2 SSD slots: the first slot can be configured with up to 1TB, and users have an extra slot to further expand the ThinBook 14S Yoga Gen 2’s storage further by up to an additional 1TB.

The same goes for its memory, as you can expand the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2’s RAM to as much as 40GB of DDR4 memory. As a portable workhorse, the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2’s 60wHr battery is rated for up to 8 hours of use, ensuring that you can get all of your work done using it for the whole day. In line with all modern notebooks, charging the ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 is done via 65w USB-C charging.

The ThinkBook 14S Yoga Gen 2 starts at Php 64,795 for the model with a Core i5-1235U processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD storage.
