Just how much will Samsung’s new hotness be priced when it arrives in April?

Samsung’s promised worldwide launch date for the Galaxy S5 when they unveiled the device during MWC was April 11 in 150 countries. While that date is more or less locked in, what’s not clear is the price of the device when it hits our shores, and if the device will launch along with two Samsung’s wearables, the Gear 2 and the Fit. Well, have the answer to the first question at least – Widget City has begun to take pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 (LTE), and has priced it at Php 32,990.

While it’s tempting to call that as the S5’s price point, remember that Widget City and similar online retailers price their devices more aggressively than traditional stores that Samsung does business with. Which means  that the S5 may retail at a higher price when it arrives. Our guess is that it’ll fall within the 33-35K range, though that’s purely speculation on our part.

Then again, it’s also not clear what variant of the S5 Widget City is selling, as online retailers usually get their stocks from other sources. Officially, Samsung Philippines said that they will only be selling the 16GB version of the S5, which should be the cheapest variant of the device. There’s still a chance though that Samsung’s latest offering may be priced at around 30-33K when it hits the market.

Widget City confirmed that they will be selling the 16GB version of the S5, so it seems that our initial estimate stands.
