The race for 5G continues

After OPPO announced that they have tested one of the phones for 5G networks, Xiaomi confirmed that they have successfully tested for 5G networks. This has been confirmed by Xiaomi Global Spokesperson Donovan Sung in a Twitter post:

Even more interesting with their 5G test is that they used the upcoming Mi MIX 3 as their testbed. The Mi MIX 3 is slated to launch in October, which means that like OPPO, Xiaomi most likely used a customized Mi MIX 3 for the 5G test.

Regardless, Sung added that he looks forward to the rollout of 5G next year.
