The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on their official Facebook page that a portion of JP Rizal Street will be closed to traffic on August 15.
According to the government traffic agency, a portion of JP Rizal Street in Guadalupe will be closed to traffic to give way to the installation of a Meralco steel pole on August 15 (Sunday) from 12:01 AM to 5:00AM. The MMDA is advising the affected motorist to reroute at EDSA Guadalupe Cloverleaf instead.
To keep the traffic flowing in the said area, MMDA will conduct a traffic rerouting scheme near the Guadalupe Viejo Cloverleaf Park. All traffic coming from the West Rembo will be diverted to use the Guadalupe Cloverleaf. Meanwhile, all traffic from Poblacion and Guadalupe Viejo will have t take the opposite direction of the Guadalupe Cloverleaf.
According to MMDA, the installation is part of the Guadalupe Bridge Rehabilitation Project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Since the Estrella-Pantaleon and Kalayaan Bridges are now operational, the DPWH can now conduct repair works on the Guadalupe Bridge.
The road closure is scheduled very early on Sunday. This is so that only a minimal number of motorists will be affected by the road closure. Moreover, the MMDA is expecting a low volume of traffic as the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) is still in effect. Thus, only authorized persons outside their residence (APORs) are currently being allowed to go out.
The Philippine government continues to remind everyone to only go out when extremely necessary.
