While NVIDIA has decided to “unlaunch” the RTX 4080 12GB due to its weird naming scheme (NVIDIA could have made their lives easier by calling it the RTX 4070 instead), it appears that an RTX 4050 will be coming soon. A Reddit post shared a photo of a Galax event in the Philippines, and the interesting part of that photo is that there’s a box of an alleged RTX 4050 in the background.
We don’t know much about the RTX 4050, but the box in the said photo appears to be that Galax might indeed launch one soon–comparing it with the box of the RTX 4090, everything is consistent don to the new font NVIDIA is using for its RTX 40 series GPUs. Right now, it’s hard to say if the RTX 4050 box is legit, as the size of the box is more consistent with NVIDIA’s higher-end variants like the humongous RTX 4090. Even stranger is the fact that it could have said RTX 4080–maybe it was a mistake on the part of Galax?
Even if the box of the RTX 4050 appears to be legit, NVIDIA has yet to confirm details about the said GPU. As of this writing, only the RTX 4090 and 4080 (the 16GB one specifically) is available in the market. The RTX 4090 has a starting price of Php 112,300, while the 16GB RTX 4080 starts at Php 84,200Â and will be available in the Philippines this November.
