The joy of being able to charge your EV at malls and select locations for free will soon be over, as ACMobility issued an advisory that they will be imposing paid charging at their charging stations in Metro Manila. For the charges, it will be Php 35.00 per kWh for DC charging and Php 28.50 per kWh for AC charging. Payments will be done through the EVRO app.
“Introducing charging fees enables ACMobility to reinvest in our network, allowing us to maintain and expand our infrastructure while delivering a consistently high-quality service,” CEO Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala said. “We aim to make every charging experience as accessible, reliable, and convenient —enabling worry-free journeys across NCR and beyond.”
For comparison, Shell charges Php 35 per kWh for their 180kWh ultra-rapid charging and Php 28 per kWh for their regular AC22 slow charging. That shows that the paid charging of ACMobility are within the expected rates for charging EVs.
To give you a clear idea, topping up the BYD Dolphin’s 44.5kWh battery will cost you Php 1557.5 from 0% to 100%, and our experience with the Dolphin shows that it can cover a distance of over 300 kilometers with enough power left to drive it to the nearest charging station.
