AMD announces Radeon PRO W7000 Series for Professionals

AMD expands its line of Radeon GPUs with the PRO W7000 series that features the tech giant’s latest RDNA 3. Made for workstations and other professional applications, the W7000 series has native support for AV1 encode/decode and DisplayPort 2.1–the latter making the W7000 series the first GPU to do so.

“The AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series graphics cards give professionals the ability to tackle larger projects, render faster and create more complex models loaded with more pixels, more polygons, and more textures,” AMD Graphics Business Unit Senior Vice President Scott Herkelman said.

Compared to the previous-generation RDNA 2, RDNA 3 aims to offer as much as 2x better performance, along with having support for second-gen ray tracing for more demanding applications. With support for DisplayPort 2.1, the Radeon PRO W7000 series support up to an 80Gbps bandwidth and up to 4K resolution at 240Hz, 8K at 60Hz, or 1440p at 500Hz–all with 10-bit color depth.

The Radeon PRO W7000 Series graphics cards consist of the W7900 and W7800. The W7800 is made for heavy workloads and has 70 compute units and a TBP of 260W. It has a 256-bit memory interface and 32GB of GDDR6 ECC memory. The higher-end W7900 is geared toward extreme workloads and gets you 96 compute units, a 295W TBP, 384-bit memory interface, and 48GB of GDDR6 ECC memory.

The Radeon PRO W7800 is priced at $2499(~Php 140k), while the W7900 is priced at $3999(~Php 224k). Both GPUs will be available from leading retailers starting Q2 of 2023.
